ALOHA! 🌺 I recently got back from my trip to the stunning island of Oahu. My cousin Abbie and I booked a trip out there to visit our cousin Anna, as she was living out there with her husband. I documented so much and we had a pretty full schedule while we were there, so I'm breaking this trip up into a few different posts! Enjoy!!

☀︎ DAY 1
We woke up at 2:45 that morning and by the time we had arrived in Honolulu and settled in, we hadn't slept for 14 hours. I knew I wasn't going to be able to function if I didn't take a nap, so we played Mario Party whilst sitting on the sofa, and halfway through, I passed out. It was the greatest nap of my life.
After waking up and getting ready, we headed out for dinner and the beach! That was, of course, the first thing we wanted to do since we never see the beach in Utah. It was beautiful.

 Kekei Beach

After that, we headed back home to meet up with Anna. It was so fun to see her after being away for 9 months! We had a pretty busy day the next day so we just spent the rest of the night catching up and packing for the morning.

☀︎ DAY 2 was much more exciting!! We woke up at 4:45 and drove all the way to the other side of the island to go snorkeling on a dolphin excursion tour! I was really scared at first because, not going to lie, the ocean scares me! But our captain made it so fun and so relaxing, by the time I jumped in the water, I was having the time of my life!

It was such a beautiful morning and we had such a good time with everyone on the boat. I HIGHLY recommend doing this.

The way that our captain did it, was whenever she spotted something in the ocean, she slowly inched the boat towards the animal to test and see if it was comfortable with us being close. Then, she sent in one of her girls to see how it reacted with a human near it. If it was okay, we all jumped in. It helped me a lot because I knew what I was seeing and swimming towards instead of just waiting for a mysterious animal to appear right next to me.

We started out in pretty shallow water where we could see the sea floor and the reef, but once we went out searching for dolphins, we ended up swimming in 2,000-3,000 feet of water. It was a little intimidating because you saw nothing but blue. I often had no sense of which direction I was in. It was crazy though, because we didn't see the dolphins right as we jumped in, but we could hear them. It was the coolest thing!

Funny Story: I had my hair up most of time, but after a while it started to get really tangled, so before jumping into the deep water, I took it out. While I was swimming and looking for the dolphins that we could hear, part of my hair came around in front of my goggles and it was so bright red and contrasted against the blue water that I scared myself so bad. My own hair spooked me.

We finally saw the dolphins and it was so incredible! If you're visiting Oahu anytime and are interested, here is the dolphin excursions website. DO IT.

It was such cool experience. The ocean is quite a spectacular part of our world and we had such a good time exploring! In total, we saw a manta ray, sea turtles, two species of dolphins and lots of fish.
We then got lunch and headed to some mermaid caves.

After visiting these really cool caves, we spent some time at the beach and then decided we needed shaved ice that later became a staple on our trip.

 Island Snow in Kailua.

After driving home and showering, we got dinner at a Mexican food truck at the PCC and then ice cream at the grocery store. We spent the rest of the night watching New Girl and playing Mario Party. Those two things also became a staple on our trip!

➪ stay tuned for day 3 & 4.

ABOUT ME AND MY BLOG

Hi there! Welcome to my travel blog. The name of this blog is an Elton John lyric from a song that I love very much and think is very fitting!
I decided to create this blog for the sole purpose of documenting my explorations and showcasing the hundreds of photos on my SD card after every vacation. For those of you that know me, know I’m the girl that is always talking about the next trip I want to take or the next country I want to visit, or trying to convince you to travel across the country or even the world with me, all while holding a camera in my hand. I need a space to share my photos and archive my memories so that some day I can look back and recall all the incredible people I met, the breathtaking views I had, or the delicious restaurants I came across while traveling. I want a place where I’m able to write about my most cherished moments around the globe.
Writing is a big pastime of mine and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do (and something I definitely need to work on) so I thought that writing about the things I love and the things I am passionate about, seems like a good way to go. I do a lot of travel documenting through video, but there is something about writing down my experiences that forces me to rely on my feelings and emotions a little bit more. Like keeping a journal. Consider this an online scrapbook/journal if you will.
The world is pretty incredible, and even though I’ve only seen 2% of it, I feel as though I have learned so much and have had so many remarkable moments that have changed everything for me, and I want to share them! Thanks for taking the time to indulge in my hobby of documenting and writing about the things I adore so much.
